In what could be the biggest shock of the Magic Weekend Wigan Warriors were battered by Catalans Dragons.
A clash between second and third in the table, a tight clash was expected but Catalans blew their opponents away well and truly.
Speaking after the game, Wigan boss Matt Peet slammed three areas in particular from his side.
He said: “We were poor in the simple areas and our core skill let us down. And defence was sub par.
“I don’t think we’ve learned anything new today. It’s simple you win the game by kicking well, tackling well and making key decisions.”
He also admitted that it wasn’t nice for him watching the game:
“It’s not nice to see your team stuck behind the sticks so many times when you’ve worked so hard and you know how much it means to them and they fail to play at their best.”
Peet also noted the quality Catalans played with compared to his side:
“I thought we were particularly poor today and in a lot of areas.
“Catalans were excellent and they were clinical. They played with lots of enthusiasm. We were beaten to the punch in every area and there’s not much more to say.
“I think, although Catalans were excellent the ball, they were also far better defensively. So, it’s not just one area.
“The lads let themselves down. It was tough watching.”
