When news broke that Wests Tigers Chief Executive, Shane Richardson, had flown to the UK, in an attempt to offload a number of their star players to Super League clubs, it set the transfer rumour mill into a frenzy. The perennial NRL strugglers are overhauling their under-performing roster.

John Bateman topped the list of available stars, alongside names such as Jayden Sullivan and Brent Naden. All have been repeatedly linked with Super League clubs in recent weeks. However, as yet, none of them have formally agreed a deal for next season. The arrival of star signings, such as Jarome Luai, means the Tigers have to balance the books for 2025.

Now, news has broken that one of the players reportedly on Flanagan’s list has agreed to his next move for 2025. The player had been linked with several Super League clubs in 2025, all keen to secure the services of this highly respected NRL man.

A club statement from the Tigers confirmed that Adam Doueihi had extended his stay with the club, and will remain there for the 2025 season.

The news represents a blow to a number of Super League sides, such as Hull FC and Leigh Leopards, who were reportedly interested in bringing Doueihi to the UK. The club statement said:

“Wests Tigers is delighted to announce that Adam Doueihi has extended his contract through until the end of the 2025 season.

“The Balmain junior has played 57 games for Wests Tigers since joining the club in 2020, missing most of last season due to a serious knee injury.

“A versatile back, Doueihi made his long-awaited return last weekend playing for Wests Tigers feeder team, Western Suburbs Magpies, in the NSW Cup.”

Speaking upon confirmation of Doueihi’s contract, Wests’ Chief Executive, Shane Richardson spoke of his delight that Doueihi had extended his deal with the club. Richardson said:

“It’s been a very long road back from injury for Adam and it was so pleasing to see him back out there last weekend.

“He is a tremendously talented footballer whose resilience and mental toughness cannot be questioned. And more importantly, he is a very good person.”

Speaking about his new contract Doueihi said:

“I’m still only 25 and I know my best years are ahead of me,” Doueihi stated.

“I’ll be working as hard as I can over the rest of this season and next season and I’m excited about the years ahead.”
