West Wales appoint French International

West Wales Raiders have appointed former France international Aaron Wood as their new Head Coach.

Wood replaces Kim Williams, who will be the new academy coach at Super League side Huddersfield Giants.

The former forward played in the NRL with Paramatta Eels, and made a career in the French Elite League.

He also made three appearances for France in the 2014 European Championship.

Wood joins having recently been joint Head Coach at Toulouse’s reserve side.

He told the club website: “It’s a very interesting role to accept, I like challenges I want to see if I can make a difference.

“I’m a big believer in club culture and talking with the club and staff they all want to see the team do well, we are recruiting some quality players already and I will continue to speak to more when I arrive next week.

“I’m excited just to get straight in to it and start working towards becoming successful team on and off the pitch. I’m going to bring an energetic approach and want the team to become a hard working and humble squad.

“As I said previously we are working hard in bringing in a lot of new recruits so keep an eye out over the next couple of weeks.”
