“We have belief” – Tony Gigot believes Toulouse Olympique could still avoid relegation looking ahead to huge Wakefield Trinity game

Last night, Toulouse picked up only their third Super League win every to give themselves a faint whiff of survival after a difficult baptism of fire in their inaugural Super League campiagn.

The win again came at home at the expense of Hull KR and saw the French side win 28-6 in their best win of the season thanks to to tries from Latrell Schaumkel, Paul Macron, Chris Hankinson and Olly Ashall-Bott.

It adds extra spice to the clash between themselves and 11th placed Wakefield next week at the Magic Weekend as a win could trim the gap between the two of them down to two points should Wakefield fail to beat Wigan today.

So, the impossible dream is becoming more of a reality and key player Tony Gigot told Super League’s official website that Toulouse still have belief:

“Of course we have belief, that is the beauty of sport,” Gigot said, “There have been some beautiful stories written before that we will always talk about in the future.

“We will fight until the end this season because that is our job.

“It’s been tough this year – we know we’ve done some great work but we’ve missed opportunities to win more games.”

“The team is still learning and Super League is very tough, but we feel we are improving week-in, week-out.”

Today Wakefield of course do meet Wigan in what should be an emotional game with it being the last in front of the current East Stand which is set to come down this week as part of the ground’s redevelopment.

Should Wakefield lose again after a thumping loss to Salford last week, it would make the Magic Weekend clash a must win game.
