Salford head coach Ian Watson paid tribute to Krisnan Inu after his display in Salford’s 28-22 win against Hull FC.
The Kiwi showcased his skill and power during Thursday’s game in Warrington, crossing for two tries and kicking four goals in a personal 16-point haul.
Speaking about Inu after the game, Watson said: “In some ways, Krisnan can be frustrating to coach. He is an unbelievable talent.
“He can do whatever he wants to do. If he wanted to play in the NFL and be a quarter-back, he could do. If he wanted to be a basketball player, he could do.
“I think he has been brilliant for us in the past two weeks. He has improved with his kick-chase whereas earlier on in pre-season, he was missing the jump on that and potentially why he lost his place so early on, but now he is earning it on his own merits.
“We have a few players at the back end of their careers now who want to win things and see this as their last chance.
“Krisnan is getting really motivated by the Challenge Cup and being able to fulfil his ambition of winning things.
“Both he and Kevin Brown have played in plenty of finals and have failed to win them so there is a burning ambition there to correct that.”
Brown, who turns 36 next month, picked up the man-of-the-match award at the Halliwell Jones Stadium as he again showed that age is just a number.
Speaking about the performance of his playmaker, Watson said: “Kevin has been getting better and better every week. He is that pivotal player in making us play better.
“I felt as though he was just finding his feet before the actual lockdown, when we played Catalans then Wigan.
“The last two weeks, he has really got to grips with the team. He wants to win things as well.
“Kevin is one of the fittest players in our squad. He ran a marathon in lockdown after doing some of our training, age does not come into it, he is in great condition.”
