Watkins dropped by Gold Coast

Former Leeds Rhinos captain Kallum Watkins has been dropped by Gold Coast Titans for the club’s final game of 2019 against St George Illawarra Dragons this weekend.

The 28-year-old has been named as a reserve by Titans caretaker coaches Craig Hodges and Luke Burt, with back rower Tyrone Peachey being preferred to him in the number three jersey.

It is the first time Watkins has been left out of the side since making his debut against Brisbane in July, after signing from the Rhinos a month earlier.

He has since made six NRL appearances but is yet to achieve a win with his new club, as well as failing to score a point so far.
