Jason Qareqare has been trending on Twitter since Thursday night, and, is there any real surprise?
The youngster wasn’t supposed to be playing for Castleford until a call from Daryl Powell – as the 17-year-old sat in a Maths class – confirmed that he would be playing on the wing for the Tigers against Hull FC.
Qareqare even admitted that he thought it may have been a prank at first, but as he took to the field for the first time for the first-team, it was clear Powell was deadly serious.
And, what a debut it was; the teenager scored with his first touch of the ball, weaving in and out before rounding Jake Connor as though he wasn’t even there.
This is the reception he received from his schoolmates when he returned on Friday morning.
