Sometimes you just know when it’s not your day.
That was certainly the case for North Wales Crusaders yesterday as they suffered a bitter 19-18 defeat to Hunslet – the difference between the sides coming from a drop goal that quite clearly didn’t have the distance.
Cain Southernwood’s effort, two minutes from time, ducked underneath the bar but the referee gave the one-pointer to the dismay of the Crusaders.

This was Hunslet’s seventh win on the bounce as Gary Thornton’s men moved up to third in the table, leapfrogging Oldham and Workington Town.
