Watch as St Helens’ NRL recruit sends out Super League warning in devastating fashion

Kyle Feldt scores an acrobatic try

It’s fair to say St Helens fans will have been in a jubilant mood this morning following their win over Castleford Tigers on Friday night. It was a win that all but secured their spot in the Super League’s top six ahead of the final round of action next week.

However, those who tuned into the NRL play-offs will have been getting even more giddy about what’s to come as Kyle Feldt scored a spectacular try for North Queensland Cowboys as they saw off Newcastle Knights to progress to the next round of the knockout stages.

Feldt set the Cowboys on their way with a interception try that has seen the Australian press wax lyrical about him. Stepping up to intercept a pass from Knights centre Dylan Lucas, Feldt burst away into the space and had the legs to charge 80 metres down the field to touch down in Townsville.

That try contributed to some remarkable running stats from the 32-year-old who racked up 281 metres in the game, 65 of which came after contact.

The Cowboys will now progress to a semi-final clash against Cronulla Sharks, who were well beaten by Melbourne Storm in their qualifying final, and Feldt will be keen to play a starring role once more and extend his time with the Cowboys at least one more week.

Feldt has signed a two-year deal with the Saints and will make the move to the Totally Wicked Stadium in time for pre-season. Of course, he has some big shoes to fill, with Feldt drafted in to replace modern day St Helens legend Tommy Makinson, who will be swapping Merseyside for the south of France as he prepares to join Catalans Dragons.

“This feels like the right choice and the right decision, not only for me but for my family,” Feldt said when the deal was announced by the Saints last month.

“I know I’m coming to a great club with a very rich history of great players with great a work ethic as well. I’m eager to get over and meet the lads at the end of the year.”
