Watch: Adrian Morley sent off after 12 seconds!

In 2003 Australia toured Great Britain as they looked to retain the Ashes and the first Test at Wigan’s JJB Stadium had a huge build-up.

Determined to end years of disappointment against their arch-rivals, the Lions players were clearly fired up and they charged forward with intent from Sean Long’s high kick-off.

Leading the onrushing pack was Adrian Morley, who had built up a fearsome reputation on both sides of the world as one of the game’s big hitters.

On this occasion though he got his timing badly wrong, knocking out Kangaroos prop Robbie Kearns after clattering him around the chin with a swinging arm.

With only 12 seconds on the clock, referee Steve Ganson showed Morley a straight red card in one of the most famous moments in Ashes history.
