Warrington Wolves youngster reveals what he will bring to Salford Red Devils as he could end up replacing Kallum Watkins at the start of the year

Salford Red Devils have brought in plenty of exciting reinforcements for the 2023 Betfred Super League season especially in the pack.

They have brought in Ben Hellewell from Featherstone Rovers, Sam Stone from the Leigh Leopards despite interest from the Melbourne Storm in the NRL, Oliver Partington from Wigan Warriors and of course exciting young forward Ellis Longstaff from Warrington Wolves on loan after he spent time at Hull FC on loan in 2022.

An exciting player, he explained what he will bring to the Red Devils in 2023 speaking on the club’s Twitter page.

“I’ll brings loads of energy,” the young forward said who enjoyed a breakout season with the Wolves in 2021, “I try to do all the little things right even some of the things you wouldn’t pick up on as fans but that the players and coaching staff will pick up on in video review.

“Just loads of energy and enthusiasm and it probably helps that I’m the youngest, I can bring a buzz around the place, hopefully anyway.”

Longstaff’s signing was a bit of a surprise when it was announced given the reserves Salford have in the backrow with the likes of Shane Wright.

However, the injury to Kallum Watkins which could delay the start of his season has made this an astute signing.
