Warrington Wolves youngster impressed by Featherstone Rovers signing on debut for new club

Warrington Wolves loanee Riley Dean impressed in his Featherstone Rovers debut yesterday against Castleford Tigers as Rovers won 26-10 with Dean creating more than his fair share of tries.

Dean was joined by exciting halfback partner Thomas Lacans who was also on debut.

After the game, Dean spoke to the Rovers Twitter page and was full of praise for his new teammate Lacans as the two shone together.

He said:

“It was great, the fans were class. A bit of a bogy pitch, but it was good to blow the cobwebs away.

“Thomas is class, especially running with the ball. He is a very smart player, but we need to be smarter and play the conditions sometimes and get a bit smarter with that.

“It was a good run out and we showed some good shape.”

He also revealed how much he is enjoying working with new boss Sean Long and his assistant and former St Helens teammate Leon Pryce:

“Pretty much everything we saw, there is two exceptionally smart blokes in Sean Long and Leon Pryce teaching us everything they know. Young halfbacks coming through, couldn’t ask for anyone better.

“But we were more focused on defence, I feel like we did a good job on that. We went back to back on our own try line there and we only let in tries when we were a bit stupid. Through an intercept on inside shoulder which was a bit stupid.”
