Warrington Wolves welcome teen darts sensation Luke Littler to help celebrate stadium anniversary

It’s been over a week since Luke Littler competed in the PDC World Darts Championship Final but the 16-year-old Warrington Wolves fan is a hot topic and he’s now visited the club’s training and stadium as the Wire celebrate 20 years of the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

You might have genuinely had to be living under a rock to not at least hear the name Luke Littler, never mind those who are consumed by his story. The 16-year-old darts prodigy took the nation and the sport of darts by storm as he made the final of the World Championships on debut.

Littler’s meteoric rise has also helped draw attention to his beloved Warrington Wolves who the teenager regularly watches at their Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Among many of the famous faces wishing him well were the Warrington Wolves squad, new head coach Sam Burgess and there was even an appearance at the world final by team mascot Wolfie whom Littler was seen embracing.

Unfortunately for Littler the fairy-tale wasn’t to be, losing to current world number one Luke Humphries 7-4 after having led 4-3 however the potential opportunities for Littler are huge.

He’s already been confirmed to be in the lineup for the Premier League of darts, one of the sport’s biggest competitions that only the very elite compete in and he’s seemingly set for an incredible 2024.

However this week he’s attended the Halliwell Jones Stadium as the club celebrate 20 years since the ground was built and first opened, Littler pictured alongside the squad and head coach Sam Burgess.

In a post on X, the Wolves shared the images captioned: “A familiar face back at the HJ this morning. Great to have you Luke!”

Littler himself regularly attends games and could well have shared a response to the club’s previous post on X in which they asked for the fan’s favourite game or try over the past 20 years.

The 16-year-old will be hoping to witness more brilliant moments this season although he may struggle to fit it around his busy schedule, the club confirming the next tournament that he’s set to play in.

They shared the news of his visit on their club site: “Fresh from his heroics at the PDC World Darts Championships at Alexandra Palace, hometown hero Luke Littler has returned to Warrington.

“The Wire fan visited training on Friday morning to watch the lads continue their preparations for the start of the new Super League season. Luke then met his Wire heroes before having a team photo in front of the sticks.

“The 16-year-old has had a whirlwind few weeks following his sensational Worlds debut where he made the final against Luke Humphries.

“Despite his rapid rise to fame, Littler claims he will still be cheering from the South Stand next season when he can make games with his family at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

“He’s currently gearing up for Masters tournaments in Bahrain and the Netherlands later this month before embarking on his debut season in the Premier League Darts, commencing on February 2.
