Warrington Wolves host St Helens in the Challenge Cup and both head coaches have been forced into a number of changes on account of injuries.
It’s the second time that the two sides have met in the last three weeks with Warrington the victors last time out, albeit by a narrow two-point margin.
That game was played at St Helens and had two points on the line whereas today’s game has a spot in the Challenge Cup semi-finals up for grabs and a shot at Wembley, something both sides will be desperate for.
Wire went all the way to Wembley in 2024 but fell short whereas St Helens haven’t lifted the Challenge Cup trophy since 2021 with their last taste of domestic silverware coming in 2022.
Both Sam Burgess and Paul Wellens were faced with a number of decisions to make ahead of today’s game, primarily revolving around their outside backs with Wire having a number of doubts and St Helens missing star winger Kyle Feldt to long-term injury and centre Harry Robertson after a failed HIA.
The team news for each side is now in.
Warrington Wolves team news

Jordy Crowther returns to the bench in place of Max Wood whilst the attacking trio of Marc Sneyd, George Williams and Matt Dufty will be the major threat for the Wolves.

St Helens team news
The big question for Wellens was how he would replace Robertson, who left the field just minutes into last week’s win over Catalans. Whilst naturally a full-back, the youngster has slotted in brilliantly at centre in 2025 and it’s been confirmed that he’s been replaced by Matt Whitley.
With Saints short on outside backs, Wellens has opted for second-rower Matt Whitley to play the role, something he did last week after Robertson’s HIA.
Dayon Sambou starts on the left wing again for a third week in a row given Kyle Feldt’s injury whilst Moses Mbye gets the start over Daryl Clark, who starts from the bench.
St Helens XIII: Jack Welsby, Jon Bennison, Matt Whitley, Mark Percival, Dayon Sambou, Tristan Sailor, Jonny Lomax, Alex Walmsley, Moses Mbye, Matty Lees, Curtis Sironen, Joe Batchelor, Morgan Knowles.
Interchanges: Daryl Clark, Jake Wingfield, Agnatius Paasi, George Delaney
