Warrington Wolves full-back Matt Dufty has been selected to play against Hull FC this afternoon. That’s despite fracturing his eye socket just three weeks ago in the Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
Dufty hasn’t featured since that game but he comes back into the fold this afternoon as Warrington look to claim their first Super League win in three. That means Sam Burgess and the Warrington medical team are happy with how he’s progressing and deem him able to play without too much concern.
He also becomes the second Wire player to return from such an injury in three weeks this season, with Marc Sneyd completing the same feat in the build up to the cup final.
Dufty’s introduction means Josh Thewlis returns to the wing, with Toby King being the man to drop out of the Wire fold this week. The centre scored a try last week against Huddersfield Giants and almost certainly would be involved if he was fit enough to play.
Joe Philbin is another absentee this week with a full reason expected to be confirmed by Sam Burgess after the game. Stefan Ratchford features on a bench that can only be described as lacking size.
Hull FC boss John Cartwright has named an unchanged 17 this week with the club returning to winning ways last time out against Salford Red Devils. That means Jordan Rapana stays at full-back, while Yusuf Aydin is at 13, with Brad Fash and Jack Charles on the bench.
