Warrington Wolves v Huddersfield Giants teams confirmed as Sam Burgess makes Sam Stone decision

Sam Stone will make his Warrington Wolves debut from the start this afternoon as Sam Burgess’ side take on Huddersfield Giants. The Wolves will be determined to get back to winning ways this afternoon after falling to a heavy defeat last time out at Leeds Rhinos and Burgess will hope the addition of Stone will help.

The back-rower joined the club on loan from Salford Red Devils earlier this week and he steps straight into the back-row for the Wolves. He starts in what is a powerful starting pack, with Luke Yates and Paul Vaughan up front and Jordy Crowther being given the nod to start at hooker.

Jake Thewlis comes back into the fold this week as he replaces the injured Arron Lindop, while Toby King and Connor Wrench appear to have swapped positions with the latter moving from the wing to centre.

There’s no James Harrison of course due to a head injury, while Adam Holroyd is among those to miss out, too. That means Luke Thomas gets the nod on the bench alongside Joe Philbin, Max Wood and Sam Powell.

Matt Frawley will make his second Huddersfield Giants debut from the start after joining on loan from Leeds Rhinos on Wednesday. He joins after Adam Clune was ruled out for the season with a hamstring injury.

That is the only change Luke Robinson has made in the back-line, but there’s no Oliver Wilson this week and that opens the door for George King to make his 250th career appearance from the start.

Matty English and Harry Rushton step onto the bench, with Kieran Rush being the other player to miss out.
