Warrington Wolves v Catalans Dragons team news as Wolves key forward returns

Warrington Wolves v Catalans Dragons team news as Lachlan Fitzgibbon returns

Warrington Wolves v Catalans Dragons at the newly-named Luke Little Stadium is one of two Friday night Super League games and both coaches have named their starting 17s.

The 2025 Darts World Champion is the guest of honour at his hometown club for its ‘one night only’ event and stadium renaming.

Warrington started their season with a narrow 20-12 win over Huddersfield Giants with head coach Sam Burgess describing their performance as ‘rusty’.

They’ll be looking to go two from two before they head to Las Vegas for a round three showdown with Wigan Warriors.

Catalans Dragons arguably had the most disappointing round 1 performance, losing 22-4 to Hull FC in Perpignan.

The Dragons had plenty of scoring opportunities but a lack of execution is something they’ll need to fix against the Wolves, according to head coach Steve McNamara.

Following their 21-man squad announcements, we now have their match-day line-ups for the game.

Warrington Wolves team news

With just one change in their original 21-man squad, second-rower Lachlan Fitzgibbon replaces Rodrick Tai.

It’s unsure whether Tai is injured or simply just dropped from Burgess’ side.

Head coach Sam Burgess has stuck with the same back five that beat Huddersfield last time out.

In the halves, Stefan Ratchford is out and Oli Leyland is in, making his Wolves’ Super League debut, alongside captain George Williams.

Fitzgibbon replaces Adam Holroyd in the second row, partnering Dan Russell, whilst Ben Currie continues at loose forward.

James Harrison replaces Zane Musgrove on the bench.

Warrington Wolves squad: Matt Dufty, Josh Thewlis, Arron Lindop, Toby King, Matty Ashton, George Williams, Oli Leyland, Paul Vaughan, Danny Walker, Luke Yates, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Dan Russell, Ben Currie.

Interchanges: Sam Powell, Jordy Crowther, James Harrison, Joe Philbin.

Catalans Dragons team news

Following a failed HIA last week, Matthieu Laguerre replaces Romain Navarette in the side as he sits out due to protocols.

That’s meant changes to the side that lost to Hull FC, with Arthur Romano moving back across to partner with Tommy Makinson and Nick Cotric staying on the wing with Laguerre as his centre partner.

Luke Keary and Cesar Rouge remain in the halves, with McNamara’s options limited.

In the pack, Chris Satae drops out of the 17, with Tevita Pangai Jr and Julian Bousquet chosen as starting props.

Tariq Sims drops to the bench as Bayley Sironen moves from centre to the second row.

Jordan Dezaria comes into the 17 and starts on the bench.

Catalans Dragons squad: Arthur Mourgue, Tommy Makinson, Arthur Romano, Matthieu Laguerre, Nick Cotric, Luke Keary, Cesar Rouge, Tevita Pangai Jr, Benjamin Garcia, Julian Bousquet, Bayley Sironen, Elliot Whitehead, Oliver Partington.
