Warrington Wolves star makes dual reg loan move

One Warrington Wolves overseas star has left the club on a dual registration loan deal that will last at least two weeks.

Papua New Guinean international centre Rodrick Tai has seemingly found himself out of favour at the Halliwell Jones Stadium and it’s been confirmed that he will join Wire’s dual reg partners Widnes Vikings on a two-week deal.

Whilst Warrington are stateside in Las Vegas and getting ready to take on Wigan Warriors, the Wolves 2024 signing will be playing in the 1895 Cup for Widnes.

Tai joined Warrington at the start of the 2024 season and whilst it took him time to establish himself, he quickly found form and became a firm favorite.

The centre had initially joined on a one-year deal but that was extended off the back of his form, however, young centre Arron Lindop has been in favour for the early games in 2025.

After not being named in Warrington’s Las Vegas squad, it’s now been confirmed that Tai has joined Widnes on a dual registration deal.

That news was confirmed by Widnes with Tai in line to feature for them this weekend in the 1895 Cup against Hunslet.

A club statement revealed: “Widnes Vikings are pleased to announce the arrival of Warrington Wolves centre, Rodrick Tai on dual registration.

“The Papua New Guinea international arrives at the Vikings with a great pedigree having made nine appearances for his country. He also made 23 appearances for Warrington last season, scoring nine tries.

“He joins for a minimum period of two weeks and will be available for selection in Sunday’s 1895 Cup clash with Hunslet.”

On his arrival, Head Coach Allan Coleman said: “As people will know, we’re struggling a bit with injuries at the moment and Warrington have been outstanding in supporting us.

“It is fantastic for us as a club to get an NRL and Super League quality player, he’ll really complement our team.

“He’s tough, robust, dynamic, and got bags of experience which is everything you want as a coach, so it’s a real coup for us.”
