Warrington Wolves signing says they can win Super League and that was key reason behind move

Josh Drinkwater has won both the Challenge Cup and the League Leaders’ Shield but has never won the Grand Final.

Drinkwater’s Wembley success came with Catalans Dragons against his new club Warrington Wolves in 2018 and now he is keen to deliver the Super League title to the Wire in 2023.

Drinkwater revealed that part of the reason why he moved to Warrington was their ambition and their desire to win trophies knowing that anything less is not good enough.

The halfback also said that he thinks the Wolves can win the Grand Final in 2023.

“People are going to say it sounds stupid because they were 11th last year, but this is a club which wants success and I want the same thing,” Drinkwater said to Sky Sports.

“They finished 11th last year, but this is a club from afar I’ve always admired and when you play Warrington, you know you’re in for a tough game. It’s also a club where they want to win and anything else is not good enough.

“They’ve never won Super League before and neither have I, and that’s part of the challenge coming across, trying to be in the team which can win a Super League title for the club.

“There were so many factors about it, but the main thing was when I was leaving Catalans was I wanted to come to a strong club and an ambitious team, and I was very fortunate I landed at Warrington.”
