Warrington Wolves send forward out on loan to Championship club

Warrington Wolves

Warrington Wolves have allowed young forward Isaac Reid to join Championship outfit Rochdale Hornets on loan.

Reid hasn’t made a senior appearance for the Wolves just yet, but he has been a regular in the youth and reserves set ups. However, he did spend time on loan with the Hornets last season, making five appearances in League 1, and his hometown club have moved to secure his services once more.

Reid is a Rochdale Mayfield junior, and he’ll be keen to pick up plenty of game time at Spotland, in the hope of building some momentum in the professional game.

As such, he’ll go straight into the Rochdale squad ahead of this week’s Championship clash with Workington Town.

“[Head coach] Gary Thornton identified our middle unit as an area we needed to bolster, with Jaden Dayes picking up a knock at Waterhead and the loss of Paddy Jones and Jamie Pye in pre-season,” Hornets chairman Andy Mazey said.

“We have established a fantastic relationship with Warrington, and my thanks in particular go to Ryan O’Brien and Gary Chambers for allowing Isaac to return on loan.

“Isaac is a Rochdale lad, a product of the magnificent Rochdale Mayfield community club, and it’s really pleasing that as a Rochdale boy he wants to be a part of what’s going on at his hometown club.

“We look forward to welcoming Isaac, his father Andy, and the Reid family back to Rochdale Hornets.”
