Warrington Wolves have announced that Josh Thewlis has signed a contract extension with the club. The deal keeps him at the Halliwell Jones Stadium until the end of the 2028 season.
Thewlis has progressed through the ranks at Warrington and after making his debut for the club in 2019, he has progressed into a regular starter in primrose and blue. The outside back has made 88 appearances for the club over the last six seasons, with 39 tries coming along the way.
Last season was the 22-year-old’s best in a Warrington shirt, too, touching down on 15 occasions and taking on the club’s goalkicking duties to rack up a total of 224 points. Unfortunately, he couldn’t help the Wolves to the Grand Final last time around, but he did feature at Wembley last time around as the club took on Wigan Warriors in the Challenge Cup final.
With his future secured for another four years in Cheshire, Thewlis will no doubt be hoping to kick on and further establish himself as one of the best wingers Super League has to offer in the coming years.
“I’m really happy to have signed a new contract,” he told Warrington Wolves after penning his new deal. “I’ve been at this club since I was 15 and I love it here.
“I want to put my best foot forward now, enjoy my rugby and be known as a player who gives everything and who everyone wants to play with. It’s special to play for this club and I love representing this town.”
Head coach Sam Burgess expressed his delight to tie down the Oldham-born winger, adding: “It’s great news for the club and Josh to secure his long-term future.
“He’s a crucial part of our team and I’m looking forward to having him and his family with us for the next few years.”
