Warrington Wolves have confirmed the immediate exit of Josh McGuire following his 12 match ban.
After a long tribunal two weeks ago, a verdict McGuire was finally reached.
The loose forward was given one of the longest bans we’ve seen as well as a fine.
He then chose not to appeal the suspension.
McGuire was ultimately banned for 12-match, meaning he will miss a total of 19 games through suspension following a similar incident prior to this season, and fined £1000.
The club confirmed the news today on social media saying McGuire had left my mutual agreement and with immediate effect.
It also confirmed a rumour that had been going round social media saying that McGuire had already returned to Australia.
The club also wished him well saying: “We wish Josh well in his next chapter.”
The statement in full read:
“The Club can confirm that Josh McGuire has left the Wire by mutual agreement with immediate effect.
“McGuire has now returned to Australia with his family. We wish Josh well in his next chapter.”
This news followed a post supposedly from Josh McGuire’s father that surfaced on social media which confirmed McGuire’s exit before the club had.
McGuire’s father took aim at the club for not supporting him, the RFL’s approach to the case, Josh Charnley and even claimed that Warrington asked McGuire to cover up injuries.
Some huge claims made by McGuire senior that are outlandish to say the least and naturally Warrington have denied them.
A spokesperson from the club said to the Mole of Wide World of Sports:
“It’s fanciful and most of it is untrue.”
