Warrington Wolves rename stadium in honour of darts world champ Luke Littler

Warrington Wolves

Warrington Wolves have confirmed that they will rename the Halliwell Jones Stadium in honour of hometown hero Luke Littler.

Luke Littler is arguably the hottest name in sports right now with the teen sensation spending the past 12 and a bit months riding the crest of a wave after his incredible 2024 World Championships.

Littler finished as runner-up to Luke Humphries at the Alexandra Palace in January 2024, cementing his status as one of the sport’s elite aged 16. He’d go on to win the Bahrain Masters and the Premier League before going one better in 2025 and winning the PDC World Championships, all before turning 18.

It’s well documented that Litter is both a huge Manchester United and Warrington Wolves fan and the Wire have decided that they will honour the town’s teen sensation by renaming their Halliwell Jones Stadium as the Luke Littler Stadium for one night only.

The lifelong fan who is a proud South Stand member will appear as a guest of honour on the night with his World title trophy parading around the pitch in the stadium that will don his name.

The naming change was confirmed by Warrington Wolves who shared a club statement whilst CEO Karl Fitzpatrick appeared on Sky Sports News to break the news.

Warrington’s statement read: “Warrington Wolves are proud to celebrate hometown hero and teenage world champion darts sensation Luke Little by renaming the Halliwell Jones Stadium as the Luke Little stadium for one night only!

“The Wire’s home ground will be renamed in honour of Warrington’s sporting icon for our huge Betfred Super League home opener against Catalans Dragons on Friday 21 February.

“Luke is a lifelong fan of the club and South Stand member, and will be our guest of honour on the night. ‘The Nuke’ will lead the team out as well as parade his World title around the pitch at half-time.”

Littler said: “It’s a dream come true that the club I’ve been a fan of since I was young has decided to name the stadium after me for a night!

“It’s an absolute honour and I can’t thank the club enough.”

Warrington Wolves CEO Karl Fitzpatrick said: “Luke’s achievements on the world stage have been nothing short of incredible, and we are immensely proud to celebrate his success with this special homecoming.

“He’s a true Warrington fan, and therefore renaming our stadium in his honour for our home opener is a fitting tribute.”

Speaking on Sky Sports, Fitzpatrick said: “Warrington’s favourite son, this idea actually came about from one of your colleagues at Sky – Brian Carney.

“We were talking about how we can recognise Luke’s incredible achievement and really celebrate the homecoming of the World Championship, well how about we rename the stadium?

“So for one night only, the Halliwell Jones Stadium is going to be known as the Luke Little Stadium.

“He’s been a season ticket holder for many many years so we asked him would he be up for this and he jumped at it. He’s as excited about it as we are.”
