Leigh Leopards have made 12 signings going into 2023.
There were two from Leeds Rhinos, two from St Helens, one from Castleford Tigers, one from Huddersfield and one from Newcastle Thunder.
But the other five came from Warrington Wolves and one of them was secured five months ago when promotion to Super League wasn’t guarenteed.
That was Rob Mulhern who, like teammate Matt Davis revealed to Serious About Rugby League, signed his contract months ago.
However, his agent Craig Harrison speaking on Inside The Deal on his YouTube channel Show Me The Money Rugby League TV said that he thought Warrington regretted letting him go.
He said: “We did that deal five months ago. We kept that really quiet. Great signing, plenty of go forward, perfect age.
“I think Warrington would have regrets, I think if we’d have negotiated with Warrington later than we did I think he’d have stayed at Warrington. Daryl didn’t get the chance to see how good he is round the club and on the field.
“Rob is never going to go and smash someone to the ground, Rob is a 60-70 minute prop in a modern day game.
“He keeps coming, defence is great. He always there. He’s a modern day prop.
“I think Warrington have lost a good player and for the Leigh fans, he might not be as big of a name as some of them but by the end of the year they’ll appreciate him.”
So, perhaps had Warrington held out for a little longer, Mulhern would again be in the primrose and blue in 2023.
As it happens he’s heading to Leigh as the Wolves bring in the likes of Sam Kasiano and Gil Dudson.
