Warrington Wolves pair leave on short-term loan deals

A pair of Warrington Wolves youngsters have left the club on short-term deals on the eve of the new season.

Warrington Wolves saw Joe Bajer and Charlie Mckler leave the club on dual registration to join League One outfit Keighley Cougars back in January and Sam Burgess’ side have now two-week lore young talents leave, this time on a two-week loan deal.

London Broncos have confirmed that they have signed winger Jake Thewlis and fellow back Zac Bardsley-Rowe on a two-week loan deal with London’s Championship campaign set to begin this weekend against Bradford Bulls.

The Broncos have had a tough time keeping hold of players after their relegation from Super League and a vast majority of their squad has been built off their academy and a number of triallists.

Thewlis and Bardsley-Rowe will add plenty of quality to the Championship side who previously lost to League One Goole in the Challenge Cup.

London Broncos sign Warrington Wolves pair on loan

The news of Thewlis and Bardsley-Rowe arriving was confirmed by the Broncos via a club statement.

It read: “London Broncos can confirm Warrington Wolves duo Jake Thewlis and Zac Bardsley-Rowe have joined the club on two week loans.

“Jake Thewlis is the younger brother of Josh and made his Super League debut in 2024 against Wigan Warriors and also scored twice in the Challenge Cup victory against Whitehaven last weekend.

The 19-year-old outside back has impressed in Sam Burgess’ team during pre-season also scoring tries against Widnes and Leigh Leopards.

“Bardsley-Rowe is another exciting back who was named by Burgess in Super League 21-man squad to face London Broncos at Plough Lane last season.

“Despite not featuring that day he went on loan to Widnes Vikings where he would go on to play 10 times scoring 1 try.”

It was also confirmed that both players will be in contention to face Bradford Bulls on Sunday when Mike Eccles’ side travel to Odsal.
