Warrington Wolves Matt Dufty says Marc Sneyd is the ‘most composed’ half-back he has ever come across. The comments came as Sneyd helped Warrington to a back to back wins on Friday night as Sam Burgess’ side edged out Leeds Rhinos 16-14.
It was a tight and competitive contest at the Halliwell Jones Stadium but the Wolves were marginally the better side, with tries coming from Jake Thewlis, Stefan Ratchford and Arron Lindop, and Sneyd was one of the men at the heart of it.
The former Salford Red Devils man has made quite the impression since making the move to Warrington earlier this month then and with his partnership with George Williams already showing positive signs, full-back Matt Dufty knows the Wolves are on the right track.
“Sam said it the other week, we’ve got three of the Dream Team spine from last year and George is good enough to be in any Dream Team,” Dufty told Sky Sports after the game on Friday night. “We’ve just got to build that combination and we’re still trying to find our way.
“It can be a bit clunky at times and sometimes Sneydy’s on the ball a lot and me and George aren’t connected. I think that will come with time, he’s only had three training sessions on the field, so it’ll come but the future’s exciting.
“I think he (Sneyd) is the most composed half I’ve ever seen. He’s very quiet, he talks on the field but he’s a very quiet personality and I think that’s what we need. We’re all very loud and we need someone to calm us down!”
Sneyd’s former Hull FC teammate Jake Connor was another who had a big say on the contest on Friday night, with the Leeds Rhinos man catching the eye in the half-back role.
Dufty was asked to comment on Connor’s talents by Sky Sports and the Warrington Wolves number one couldn’t help but make his feelings be known about the Leeds man.
“He’s talented, I’ll give him that,” Dufty said with grin. “I’ve never met a more annoying person than Jake Connor.”
