Warrington Wolves man Toby King has been granted a 12-month testimonial by the RFL, the club have confirmed.
While King has had loan spells at both Huddersfield Giants and Wigan Warriors in recent seasons, the centre has been a Warrington player throughout his career. In that time he has made 164 appearances for the club, scoring 64 tries, with his debut coming against London Broncos in 2014.
Some of his highlights in a Warrington shirt undoubtedly include winning the Challenge Cup and the League Leaders’ Shield and with three caps for England under his belt, he’s highly thought of on the international scene, too.
Warrington have confirmed that a testimonial match for the 28-year-old will be held in pre-season, but full details and an opponent are yet to be revealed.
“I can’t believe from arriving here as a 16-year-old boy who had just left high school that I would be celebrating a testimonial at this great club,” King told the Warrington Wolves website.
“From Tony Smith giving me my debut to being coached by one of the greats in Sam Burgess, it’s been one hell of a rollercoaster and I’m loving being part of this special group.
“I want to thank all my team-mates and coaches over the years. My family for their sacrifices which has enabled me to live my dream of playing rugby. Also the Warrington fans who have been incredible to me since I first arrived at the club. I’m immensely proud and I’m excited for the year ahead.”
Warrington CEO Karl Fitzpatrick added: “I’m really pleased for Toby to have been granted a testimonial year. He’s a player who fought hard as a teenager to earn his spot in the first team having progressed through our academy and he has now established himself a decade later as one of the best centres in the game.
“Toby is heavily involved in the community and is always generous with his time, making him a really popular figure amongst supporters.
“I’m excited to see what he can achieve on and off the field for the rest of this season and the year ahead.”
