Warrington Wolves give debut to new signing as key players return

Warrington Wolves star George Williams

Last week was a difficult one for Warrington.

Having led by 10 points with 10 minutes to go against Salford they lost 32-24 in a low point in their season underlining their need for the transition new coach Daryl Powell has already catalysed moving Josh Charnley out to Leigh and allowing Mike Cooper to join Wigan for next season.

He has also brought in a number of new players like Kyle Amor and Jake Wardle but those new faces couldn’t stop Warrington slipping to another defeat perhaps due to the Wolves missing key players like Matty Ashton and George Williams.

Both of them return with Williams joining Stefan Ratchford in the halves allowing Peter Mata’utia to return to the centres causing Greg Miniking t0 be dropped.

Meanwhile Matty Ashton returns to his left wing in place of promising youngster Conor Wrench who, along with Minikin, is unlucky to miss out.

Meanwhile, Powell has made a big call in asking James Harrison to replace Mike Cooper at prop and giving a debut to new signing from Wigan Warriros Matty Nicholson at second-row.

Meanwhile young halfback Riley Dean starts on the bench after being awarded with a new deal this week.
