Warrington Wolves are set to lose another forward at the end of the 2022 Super League season – but it’s not Mike Cooper.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News which has published a list of those players whose future is yet to be determined – with either no deal given to a player or a club is still waiting to decide.
Among those listed is Castleford Tigers’ Cheyse Blair who arrived at the Jungle back in 2019 in a flurry of media attention.
However, the former Melbourne Storm man will be the first to admit that it hasn’t gone as smoothly as he would probably have hoped at Castleford with a lack of a nailed-down position contributing to inconsistent performances.
In terms of Warrington, the forward leaving is Eribe Doro, who has spent most of this season on-loan at Widnes Vikings.
Wigan Warriors’ Jake Bibby is also on that list with his departure expected at the end of 2022.
Huddersfield Giants head coach Ian Watson spoke about his interest in the Wigan man during the week.
“I’ve had Jake at Salford and he is off contract so we definitely have an interest in him,” Watson said.
“Time will tell I suppose if we can get him across the line, but I want Jake to join us, he made his debut under me at Salford.
The Huddersfield boss waxed lyrical about Bibby’s talent.
“There would be a lot of clubs having a look at him, he plays at a high level – an 8/10 in every game.
“And, in the semi-final against St Helens I thought he was the best centre on the field, but Wigan understand how valuable he is.”
