Warrington Wolves head coach Sam Burgess hasn’t had the easiest start to the 2025 Super League season.
Amidst all the Las Vegas visa troubles, his side has only two wins from four games in Super League so far, however, he’s feeling optimistic about how his side is performing and is hopeful that they can keep improving.
Speaking on BBC Radio Merseyside, he said: “All the markers tell us we’ve turned a corner in our game.
“We’ve tidied a few things up and we’re a bit healthier.”
The Warrington boss has also added to his side, signing halfback Marc Sneyd from Salford Red Devils just days ago.
Sneyd looks set to make his debut in the halves alongside George Williams and Burgess is hoping that experience can only bolster his squad.
He added: “Not much will faze him (Sneyd). He’s been around the block for a while so he knows how to manage it.
“It only helps George (Williams) and the side in so many different ways.
“He could take a couple of weeks or months to gel but we’ll build on that over the next couple of weeks.
“He’s a very intelligent player and he’s a natural half so he’s a good fit.”
St Helens v Warrington Wolves predicted teams
Warrington coach Sam Burgess will also welcome back Matty Ashton, Matt Dufty, Toby King, Arron Lindop and Lachlan Fitzgibbon, who’ve all made his 21-man squad.
However, he knows that Saints are also finding their feet in 2025 and highlighted their two new NRL recruits, Kyle Feldt and Tristan Sailor.
“There’s certainly an improvement. They’ve changed their attack a little bit and thrown a bit more of the ball around which is good,” Burgess told BBC Radio Merseyside.
“Then you’ve got the typical physical Saints, so they’re in a good spot for sure.”
St Helens host Warrington Wolves on Friday night, with a kick-off time of 8:00pm.
The game is live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Action.
