Warrington Wolves boss Sam Burgess was impressed by his side’s defence as they beat Catalans Dragons 18-12 at the Luke Littler Stadium.
Burgess admitted it was another tough encounter for his Wolves team but was ultimately pleased with their performance.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Burgess also shared more about his Visa troubles ahead of their Las Vegas trip.
He said: “I thought our defence was good last week and again, we were challenged.
“We got broken down a few times but we scrambled hard.
“As a team, we don’t ever really stop trying so if that’s the case, we’ve always got a chance and we were in good control for most of the game.”
Whilst admitting it wasn’t his side’s greatest showing, he was glad to win the arm wrestle.
He said: “I thought Catalans were a great side and it was a really tough game with a heavy field, which doesn’t suit us.
“They really challenged us with the ball, they threw some offloads and it was a good contest.”
Speaking ahead to the Vegas match-up with Wigan, he said the team can now finally start to look towards their trip and he expects another tough game.
The Wolves boss added: “I’m really looking forward to the week now and I’m less grumpy than I was before.
“It’s obviously much nicer to go over with a couple of wins.
“We’ll have to break that one down tomorrow and we jump on a flight on Sunday so it’ll be a really enjoyable week for everyone.
“I want to soak it up and take something out of the experience by getting a performance over there next Saturday.”
As for Burgess being in Vegas, it’s still in the hands of US Border Control but he remains optimistic about the outcome.
He continued: “At the moment, my Visa application is in and it’s at the US Border Control.
“I’ve thanked everyone at the US Embassy in London over the last couple of days and put a lot of work into it.
“I respect the process, it’s just down to them and we just wait and see how it goes over the next 24 to 48 hours.”
He was also very complimentary of his captain and halfback George Williams after his break lead to Danny Walker’s try, which saw the Wolves take a foothold early in the second half.
He finished: “I thought he broke the game open himself on the short side.
“He’s going to have another great year and he’s really growing into the responsibility.
“I thought he was great again tonight.”
