Warrington Wolves boss Sam Burgess has provided injury updates on Kelepi Tanginoa and Luke Yates following the loss to Leeds Rhinos on Sunday.
It was a contest that ebbed and flowed, but the Wolves ultimately proved to be second best at Headingley as the home side overcame a half-time deficit to pick up a tight 26-22 win. Josh Smith scored twice for the Wolves, while Josh Thewlis and Toby King also touched down.
However, a Maika Sivo hat-trick set Leeds on their way, with efforts also coming from Brodie Croft and Jack Bird as Warrington struggled to find that killer blow they needed in West Yorkshire.
Ultimately, the game came at a cost for Wire, too, with Kelepi Tanginoa and Luke Yates coming off the field with issues and Burgess has given updates on the pair.
“We don’t know the full extent of it but it looks like a groin issue,” Burgess said on Tanginoa. “He’s not looking too healthy. We’ll figure out how bad it is over the next few days.”
On Yates, he added: “It was a bit of stinger and it was at the point of the game where we couldn’t have any passengers and we had enough substitutions up our leave and we put Jordy Crowther out there. I think he’ll be OK.”
Speaking on the defeat, Warrington’s first of the season as they missed the chance to move level at the top of the table with Wigan Warriors, Burgess said: “It was a tough loss. It was a funny old game and hard conditions to manage for both sides I think and they’re a very dangerous side.

“We paid for a lack of management in that second half but I was really proud of our effort to stay at it and keep challenging things and I thought we could have got a chance at the end but ultimately we didn’t have much left.
“It was unfortunate, the James Harrison try. If he gets that ball down it’s a different game and they went up the other end and scored. That’s how the game goes and you have to manage those swings. Ultimately we were on the wrong side of it tonight.
“I think I know my side pretty well at the moment, I’ve been with them for the last three or four months and seen the work they’ve put in. It’s not the result we wanted but that’s OK, there’s a lot of us learning along the way. As a group we’ll definitely learn. Win or lose, we always learn.”
