Warrington Wolves beat Super League and NRL clubs to swoop for Wigan Warriors star

Warrington Wolves have beaten Super League and NRL clubs to swoop for a Wigan Warriors star.

That’s according to The Mole at the Wide World of Sports who has claimed that the newest NRL side – the Dolphins – had been in for 18-year-old Matty Nicholson.

However, the teenage forward has decided to join Daryl Powell’s huge rebuild at the Halliwell Jones Stadium instead.

A loose-forward or second-rower, Nicholson won a national championship in England at the age of 16 and has already been named in the England Knights Performance Squad with a big future expected of the hulking forward.

It would mean yet another signing through the doors at the Cheshire club following the recent capture of Thomas Mikaele, Sam Kasiano, Gil Dudson and Paul Vaughan.

A big rebuild is expected at Warrington over the remainder of the 2022 Super League season heading into 2023 with Mike Cooper leaving for Wigan at the end of the year whilst the likes of Josh Charnley, Rob Butler, Ellis Robson and Billy Magoulias have already left.

As many as ten signings are expected through the doors at the Halliwell Jones as Powell gets ready to put a major stamp on his squad.

And, NRL duo Matt Dufty and Josh McGuire are expected to be two of those new recruits ready to join Super League for next season.

Fullback Dufty has endured a nightmare few seasons with St George Illawarra Dragons and then Canterbury Bulldogs, with a Super League move perhaps key for the livewire to rekindle his form.

Meanwhile, McGuire has been in and around the St George team in 2022 and has been linked with a move to the Wolves for a number of months.
