Warrington Wolves centre Connor Wrench has announced his immediate retirement from professional rugby league.
The 23-year-old has been a regular in the Warrington line-up since emerging through the academy ranks at the Halliwell Jones Stadium to make his debut in 2020. In those six seasons, he has made 52 appearances and touched down for 19 tries.
That figure included the 11 appearances he has made this season, with the centre featuring heavily over the second half of the season. Unfortunately his game time over the last few years has been severely impacted by injuries.
Wrench’s last match for the club came on Sunday as Warrington lost 23-10 to Huddersfield Giants, with Wrench getting over the line to score one of the Wolves’ two tries.
However, he has now chosen to step away from the professional game, with the club breaking the news this evening. Wrench will now look to pursue opportunities outside of the game, but the club have vowed to support him as he transitions into working life.

Speaking on his decision, Wrench told the club website: “This hasn’t been an easy decision, and one I’ve been contemplating for a while, but it feels like the right step for me to make.
“I can’t thank everyone at the club enough for the part they’ve played in my journey.
“Representing my hometown club has meant a huge deal to me and I want to thank all my teammates, coaches, the staff and of course the fans for all their support over the years. The support I had through my injuries is something I’ll always appreciate too.
“I’m looking forward to a fresh challenge and wish the club every success in the future.”
