Warrington Wolves announce yet another signing as Daryl Powell brings in major forward Josh McGuire

Warrington Wolves have probably been the most active club in the transfer market in recent weeks.
With the likes of Thomas Mikaele, Sam Kasiano, Gil Dudson and Matty Nicholson joining immediately or for 2023, head coach Daryl Powell is putting his stamp on the Cheshire club.
Next up, experienced St George Illawarra Dragons forward Josh McGuire has put pen to paper on a two-year deal starting from 2023 as Powell continues to rebuild his squad.

The 16st 5lbs lock brings a huge amount of experience to our pack having represented Queensland in State of Origin on 14 occasions as well Australia at international level. He was part of the Kangaroo’s World Cup winning side in 2017 and also has Test experience with Samoa.
The 32-year-old has made 252 NRL appearances to date and will join from St George Illawarra Dragons. He began his illustrious career with a 10-year spell at his home city club Brisbane Broncos for whom he played at The Halliwell Jones Stadium against Warrington in February 2017 during the World Club Series.
He is our fourth forward signing for 2023 with Paul Vaughan, Sam Kasiano and Gil Dudson also joining the Wire next season.
Josh McGuire said: “The opportunity to come over and play for Warrington is one I’m really excited about.
“It’s always been in the back of my mind to come over and play in this part of the world during my career. I’m a huge footy nut. I’ve been watching Super League for a long time and I’m a big fan of the English game. I think it can really suit me.
“I’m looking forward to getting over, wearing the primrose and blue and doing something special with this group.
“With the new additions, the pack that’s building there and the young guys coming through I’m very excited to be part of the squad for next year.”
Head Coach Daryl Powell added: “Josh is a tough, aggressive forward and I see a lot of strong leadership in his game.
“From my conversations with him he’s very passionate about coming over here for the right reasons.
“He’s had a fantastic career. He’s an Australian international who has played at the highest level. We want a big, tough pack that can go out there and dominate every other pack in the competition which is what I believe we’ve put in place for next season with our recruitment.”
