Three Super League players have made loan moves to the same club on short-term and long-term deals.

Luke Broadbent from Warrington Wolves alongside Corentin Le Cam & César Rougé have signed for Whitehaven, with Broadbent joining until the end of the season and the Catalans Dragons duo for a month.

Fullback Broadbent, 19, becomes the second member of his family to play for Haven, following in legend Gary’s footsteps who was at the LEL Arena between 2003 and 2008 and holds the record of most consecutive appearances for the club.

Son Luke has been on the books of Warrington since the age of 16, is an England youth international and has Championship experience this term having previously been on loan at neighbours Workington Town.

Speaking about the signing of Broadbent, director Ashley Kilpatrick said: “I’m chuffed to get Luke over the line and to see him following in his father’s footsteps in playing for the club.

“He’s a good returner of the ball and talks well out the back having seen him play several times in person and also seen him on video.

“He’s come through a full time environment at Warrington and has Stefan Ratchford and Josh Thewlis in front of him so first team opportunities have been limited.

“We’d like to thank Gary Chambers who of course is a Whitehaven lad and everyone else at Warrington in helping us with this deal and getting it over the line.”

Corentin Le Cam, 22, is a 6ft 8 French international back-rower who made a try-scoring debut versus England in the end of season test at Stade Gilbert Brutus in 2021.

He made his Super League debut for the Dragons in August 2021 vs St Helens and went on to make four appearances for the French outfit last season and one this season in the Round 7 defeat against Huddersfield.

“Ashley Kilpatrick spoke of Le Cam saying: “It’s brilliant to have Corentin for the next month. He’s a French international and is highly rated in Perpignan and he is fully expected to play in the World Cup having scored against England last year.

“He’s played a few super league games getting man of the match for Catalans against St Helens on his debut he’s a big lad at 6 ft 8 to be running out wide in the back row for us.”

Cesar Rouge, 19, is a halfback or hooker who also made his debut off the bench for France in the season ending international against England.

He has made three appearances for the Dragons in Super League with his sole Super League appearance this term coming in the Round 4 victory at Warrington whilst he has also had 11 starts for the St Estève XIII Catalan in the Elite 1 competition with four tries and 15 goals as they finished fifth.

Kilpatrick spoke saying “It’s great to have Cesar for the next month. He’s very highly rated by everyone at Catalans and only young at the age of 19, he can play in the halves or at 9.

“He’s also a French international again who I expect to see play at the World Cup for them. He’s quick and loves to take the line on.

“Huge thanks to Alex Chan & Catalans Dragons for getting these deals done quickly and professionally.”
