Players from Warrington Wolves and Bradford Bulls have both been handed lengthy bans by the RFL for punching.
Joe Bajer, a Warrington Wolves academy talent, and Anthony Boardman, who was representing the Bulls whilst on loan from Dewsbury Rams, have both been hit with five-game bans.
The bans date back to a reserves game from Friday, March 28th, which Warrington eventually ran out 22-18 victors in, however, the talking point of the game was the brawl sparked when Bajer and Boardman went at it.
Both men were sent off and handed Grade E charges for punching with their cases heard on Tuesday night at an RFL Operational Rules Tribunal.
The verdicts for both men was the same, as revealed by the RFL, with the pair copping five-game bans and £25 fines, with a further 34 penalty points added to their disciplinary record.
A statement explained: “Anthony Boardman of Bradford Bulls Reserves appeared at an independent Operational Rules Tribunal on 8 April following a Grade E charge of punching in the reserves fixture against Warrington Wolves on Friday 28 March.
“Boardman plead guilty and received a 5 match suspension and a £25 fine – with 34 penalty points imposed, which will remain there for 12 months from the date of the offence.
“Warrington Wolves Joseph Bajer also appeared at last night’s independent Operational Rules Tribunal following a Grade E charge of punching in the reserves fixture against Bradford.
“The player plead guilty and received a 5 match suspension and a £25 fine – with 34 penalty points imposed, which will remain there for 12 months from the date of the offence.”
Bajer is yet to play for Warrington Wolves first team, however, he has spent time on loan with Keighley Cougars and Sheffield Eagles, representing the Eagles this past weekend in their 1895 Cup loss against Bradford Bulls.
