Warrington Wolves add to board with new member tipped to make big impact

Warrington Wolves

Warrington Wolves will have a new board member next month, with local businessman Stuart Browne joining the club.

Browne joins the Wire board in a non-executive role alongside his day job as CEO of Warrington-based technology consultancy firm Resulting IT. He is well known to Warrington, with Resulting IT being a shirt sponsor for the last seven seasons and Browne has been a trustee of the Warrington Wolves Community Foundation since 2022.

Warrington see Browne’s extensive leadership experience as an important asset when it comes to ‘club strategy and culture’. Given his background, though, the club also believe his addition to the board will help them better capitalise on emerging technologies in terms of both on and off the field operations.

“Rugby league gave me my core values so to be able to pay that back in some way is a huge thing for me,” Browne said on joining the Warrington board. “Having built and grown a successful business of my own, I will bring some new perspectives that will build on existing leadership expertise.

“My career has exposed to a weird mix of consulting, technology, marketing, sales, business leadership and people management. I’m also a rugby league addict, still running around the touch rugby field a few times each week and of course watching the Wire every week. Having chatted to Karl, Stuart, Mike Lomax, Gary Chambers and Sam Burgess over the past few months, I decided it was time to roll my sleeves up and make a serious impact with the club I love.”

Chairman Stuart Middleton said: “I have been looking to strengthen the board of directors and Stuart was the perfect fit. His CV speaks for itself, he is a true Warringtonian and a passionate, dedicated lifelong fan. He will make a positive contribution to initiate change and help to grow and drive the business in what is one of the most difficult and challenging periods in Super League’s near 30-year history.”

Karl Fitzpatrick, Warrington CEO, added: “I’ve known Stuart for many years and I’m confident he’ll make a real and positive impact on the club. His passion for both the club and the sport, combined with his experience in building and developing a successful business, will be invaluable. I’ve no doubt he’ll make a strong contribution across multiple areas of the organisation.”
