Warrington Wolves hosted Castleford Tigers at the Halliwell Jones Stadium tonight in an interesting battle between Daryl Powell and Lee Radford.
It was Powell that came out victorious in a 34-10 win, but it was far from a classic for a live Thursday night game.
Highlights:
Whizzy Rascal was the man-of-the-match, driving around in his toy car before kick-off. He refused to give the ball to referee James Child to start the game – and the Castleford players will have been wishing he never did hand it over.
Matty Ashton’s interception try was about the only thing to write home about from the win.

Talking points
1. Castleford’s ill-discipline
The Tigers didn’t actually play too bad – they started well but too many errors and penalties allowed Warrington to assert their dominance. Castleford conceded ten penalties this week and seven against Salford Red Devils last week. It really would have been a painful watch for the Tigers fans.
2. Warrington going through the motions
Warrington didn’t even need to get out of first gear, never mind second. The Wolves applied pressure when necessary but they found it far too easy to break down the Castleford defence.
3. Cas created very little
Castleford’s halfback situation still doesn’t seem fixed. Danny Richardson sat out tonight with a fractured with Gareth O’Brien coming in. However, neither halfback has been able to strike up a decent partnership with Jake Trueman who has been disappointing in the first two rounds.
