Warrington sign young Wigan forward

Warrington have confirmed the signing of Wigan youngster Samy Kibula for next season.

Serious About RL reported earlier this week that the 20-year-old was set for a move, with the Wolves now confirming he has signed a one-year deal.

Kibula made his Wigan debut last season but has failed to make a top-flight appearance since, instead turning out for Dewsbury, Swinton and London Skolars on loan and dual-registration deals.

“I’m delighted to have signed for Warrington Wolves, said the 6ft 4in back rower. It is a club always competing for trophies and that excites me.

Steve Price has made Samy Kibula his third signing for 2020.

“I am looking forward to meeting all the staff and players. This is a new and exciting chapter in my life and I can’t wait to get started.”

Warrington head coach Steve Price added: Samy’s a young player who has come through the academy system at Wigan. He’s a big lad and has certainly got some good leg speed and handy ball skills in him.

Samy’s been really consistent in his performances over the second part of the season with Swinton and has grown as a young person.

He’s still got a lot of development in his game and a lot of hard work in front of him but we will be doing everything we can to help him become a first-team player.”
