Warrington name forgotten man in squad to face Leigh

Warrington Wolves forward Joe Philbin

Warrington Wolves and Leigh Leopards have both named their initial sides for their round five clash at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday night.

Both sides come into the game on the back of victories. Warrington retained their unbeaten run after an away victory at Hull KR, whilst the Leopards secured a shock victory over World Champions St Helens.

The Leopards will be in good form after also beating Hull KR the week prior. Daryl Powell looks to remain at the top of the table, and he aims to do so by making three changes to the preliminary squad.

James Harrison is the most notable name to drop out after having a tremendous start to life as a Wolf. He is suffering with a knee injury. Joining him on the side-lines are fellow forward Joe Bullock and young half-back Riley Dean.

Joe Philbin is one of the players who comes in. The forgotten man returns to the squad after being out since June of last year with an ACL injury.

The other players included are Gil Dudson, who will be looking to make his full Warrington debut after suffering a broken hand in pre-season against the Leopards, and youngster Leon Hayes who is a like-for-like swap with Dean.

Adrian Lam has made two changes to the side that beat Saints. Forwards Joe Wardle and Jacob Gannon are out of the squad. The latter has joined Championship side Halifax Panthers on an initial short-term loan whilst former Scottish international Wardle is out with an arm injury.

The pair are replaced by hooker Aaron Smith and prop forward Nathan Wilde. Smith has played one game this season – the round two defeat to Catalans. Wilde is yet to make his Super League debut after joining from Newcastle Thunder in the off-season.
