Young Warrington Wolves back-rower Luis Johnson is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The 21-year-old confirmed he was injured on Twitter last week after failing to appear in the last two matches.

The type and full extent of the injury was unknown but it was confirmed by Steve Price in an interview with the Warrington Guardian.

Wire head coach Price revealed Johnson suffered a similar injury to full-back Matty Ashton who was ruled out for five months after tearing his hamstring at the end of February.

Johnson had made two appearances for the Wolves this season in their round four and five matches against Toronto and Leeds respectively.

How many games the youngster will miss is still unknown, with the season currently suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus epidemic.
