Warrington going down 19-0 at home to Hull KR wasn’t exactly the way in which outgoing head coach Steve Price would have imagined his reign at the Halliwell Jones Stadium to end.
It really was a superb victory for Hull KR, though, with the likes of Mikey Lewis and Jordan Abdull having stormers as Warrington simply could not breach the stubborn Robins’ defence.
The result also meant that Price bowed out without a Grand Final victory as Tony Smith’s men continued a remarkable transformation from basement dwellers to silverware hunters.
But, a number of Warrington fans just could not hide their displeasure over yet another disappointing end to a Super League campaign.
One in particular couldn’t hide the contrast in the two sides.
On one side a coach who improves players and makes them better, whilst giving a team a style and an identity. On the other side, a coach who takes world class players and makes them look incredibly average in a team lacking any edge whatsoever.

Another Wire supporter believed the club should have got rid of Price two years ago.

One fan certainly went in on the style of rugby being played.
I think that performance has given me depression. That was as bad as it gets. Price, the Sam Allardyce of rugby league, should have got the boot 2 years ago. Tonight came as no surprise.

Inconsistency was the problem according to another member of the Wire faithful.
Never known such an inconsistent team. Just a lucky dip each week. We could nil saints one week and then get hammered 50-0 by Leigh the next with the same line up. Joke.
