Warrington confirm captain for 2021

Warrington Wolves have confirmed Jack Hughes as the club’s sole captain for the 2021 season.

Hughes shared the captaincy with Chris Hill recently, but the England international will step down in order to focus on his performances. Hill had been captain for five seasons.

Second rower Hughes signed for the club ahead of the 2016 season, after impressing whilst on loan at Huddersfield Giants. He came through the academy at Wigan Warriors, and has had other loan spells at Barrow Raiders, Leigh Centurions and Workington Town.

Commenting about his role as captain, Hughes said, “It’s a massive honour and something I’m really proud of.

“Obviously, I understand the weight and responsibility that comes with the role and it’s something I’ll take extremely seriously.

“I’ll upholds the highest of standards at all times – any leadership role would require that – but I’m extremely proud.”
