Warrington CEO provides amazing insight into Kevin Sinfield brilliance

Kevin Sinfield is widely regarded as perhaps the best ever player in Super League history.

He is undoubtedly the best captain in Super League history guiding Leeds Rhinos to seven titles as captain which is more than any other skipper.

This was largely down to his professionalism and speaking on the Out of your League Podcast Warrington Wolves CEO Karl Fitzpatrick, who played with Sinfield as a youngster, revealed how professional he was at a young age:

“I was fortunate to play for Lancashire North West Counties and actually played with Kevin Sinfield. Do you know what at 12 or 13 years of age, he was an incredible professional back then.

“I used to play half-back so I was seven and he was six and I remember one game at Central Park. We’re getting changed and I’m a little weedstick, Kev takes his top off and it’s like ‘wow’, big chest and phenomenal condition.

“He then pulls out of his bag a tub of sand, so back in the day they didn’t have cones to kick off and you’d put a mound of sand down. He started to mix water with it to get the right consistency to ensure it was right to hold the ball.

“This was at 12 or 13 years of age, it was super impressive.”

He also revealed the interesting attitude Sinfield’s best friend in later years Jamie Jones-Buchanan had: “I roomed with Jamie Jones-Buchanan, I’d played against him but I didn’t really know him. I walked up to my room and I saw him wearing leather pants at 16, the confidence of him was tremendous.”
