Warrington Wolves have announced they have entered a partnership with fellow Cheshire club Widnes Vikings.
This will allow the Vikings will work with the Warrington performance team. Squad players are also dual-registered
The clubs will build an off-field association, with Championship and Super League learning from each other.
Karl Fitzpatrick, Warrington chief executive, said: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Widnes. As clubs we have always had a health rivalry but strong relationship, this new partnership can only be beneficial to both parties.
“Admittedly, with the introduction of the reserves there may be limited opportunities to dual-reg players, but there will be times when we need players to gain game time and we may not have a reserves fixture.
“The partnership will provide another platform for players from both sides to play.”
