Warrington 44-12 Leigh: Player ratings and three major talking points

Warrington mauled Leigh 44-6, but how did the players rate and what were the major talking points?

1. How much difference a week makes

They were impressive against Wigan for the first-half last week, but Leigh tired in that game and the Centurions looked a lot more fatigued than their opponents Warrington with all the extra defensive work having to be done. Leigh were so far off the pace against the Wolves it was rather worrying. Warrington, meanwhile, improved drastically from their loss against Castleford.

2. Toby King should make the England squad

If his first two performances are anything to go by then Toby King should definitely be earning a call-up by Shaun Wane for the World Cup at the end of the year. The centre was pure quality once more against Leigh, forming a devastating partnership with Ben Currie down Warrington’s left edge and crossing for two tries.

3. Gareth Widdop may finally be settling in

He’s been under fire for more than a year after having a disappointing 2020, but Gareth Widdop looked the part, setting up numerous tries and making a number of breaks. Adorning outlandish pink boots, the halfback certainly took the limelight with an accomplished display.
