Wane: O’Loughlin a bigger miss than Gale

Leuluai injury return

Wigan head coach Shaun Wane says their loss of captain Sean O’Loughlin through injury is greater than that of Castleford’s Luke Gale.

As the teams prepare to meet at the DW Stadium on Sunday, both O’Loughlin (calf strain) and Gale (appendix surgery) will be missing for their respective sides.

And despite the Tigers’ half-back been the architect of their record-breaking season, Wane has down-played his absence.

“He’s not as big a blow as us losing Lockers, I can assure you,” he told Wigan Today.

“That’s one player – try doing it with nine, 10, 11 players out, like we’ve had to. Cas’ have done well with injuries, no question about it.

“They’ve got one out now and it’s big news – just get on with it. I wish I’d only had one player out.”

Wigan currently sit fourth after Hull beat Wakefield last night but know victory against the table-toppers on Sunday will almost guarantee them a semi-final place.
