Wales vs Cook Islands: Kick-off time, Venue, TV Channel and team news

The final game of the opening round of the World Cup sees another clash with Group D which last night produced the game of the tournament between Papua New Guinea and Tonga.

Now can Wales and the Cook Islands follow suit?

Kick-off time and venue

The game kicks off at 19:30 at Leigh Sports Village.

TV Channel

TV coverage starts at 19:00 on BBC Two.

Team News

Both sides have Super League talent their squads. Wales have Rhys Williams, Leigh’s Caleb Aekins and former Super League winger Elliot Kear as well as former Huddersfield Giants man Chester Butler.

New Giants Esan Marsters features for the Cook Islands as does Hull KR’s man Brad Takiarangi who will be partnered in the halves by Johnathan Ford. Leeds Rhinos’ Zane Tetevano features alongside former Rhino Kevin Iro’s son Kayal Iro. Former Wigan and Warrington man Anthony Gelling is also set to play.
