Wakefield Trinity welcome back three starters as Warrington Wolves forced into changes

Wakefield Trinity host Warrington Wolves in this afternoon’s Super League match with the visitors knowing that a win will keep alive their slim hopes of a top-two finish.

Wire have been in fine form of late and a win will take them level on points with whoever loses tonight’s game between Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors, though they’ll still need a win and a result to go in their favour next week if they’re to make the top two.

As for Wakefield, a win will ensure they make the top four and therefore host a home play-off game, so it’s fair to say there is plenty on the line and there’s also been some big changes made by both coaches.

Daryl Powell makes three personnel changes but he makes a number of swaps within the line-up. The three changes are Tom Johnstone in for Jayden Myers and Isaiah Vagana in for Zac Lipowicz, whilst Emre Guler also returns but it’s Harvey Smith who is sacrificed.

That sees Tyson Smoothy start at hooker as Guler also earns a start, meaning Caleb Hamlin-Uele can play off the bench alongside Jazz Tevaga and Caius Faatili.

There’s also a surprise change in the halves as Mason Lino starts over Jake Trueman, who plays off the bench.

Wakefield Trinity XIII: Max Jowitt, Lachlan Walmsley, Cameron Scott, Corey Hall, Tom Johnstone, Mason Lino, Jack Sinfield, Emre Guler, Tyson Smoothy, Ky Rodwell, Isaiah Vagana, Mike McMeeken, Jay Pitts

Interchanges: Jake Trueman, Jazz Tevaga, Caius Faatili, Caleb Hamlin-Uele

Kelepi Tanginoa is also brought back into the fold as he replaces the suspended Sam Powell.

Warrington Wolves XIII: Josh Thewlis, Albert Hopoate, Josh Smith, Toby King, Matty Ashton, George Williams, Leon Hayes, Liam Byrne, Danny Walker, James Harrison, James Bentley, Sam Stone, Ben Currie
